Chinese President Hu Jintao has been elected chairman of the State Central Military Commission.

More than two thousand deputies cast their votes Sunday at the annual session of National People's Congress, the country's top legislative body.

Early this week, NPC accepted the resignation of state military leader Jiang Zemin.
