BEIJING, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- China-EU relations are generally good despite trade frictions stemming from anti-dumping measures, Chinese Foreign Minster Yang Jiechi said Friday.

Yang made the remarks when meeting with press with visiting German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle in Beijing.

Since 2008, China-EU relations had been marked by trade disputes with anti-dumping measures being at the center, said Yang.

However, relations were generally good, and the Chinese government would continue to attach great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the EU.

Despite some differences, the China-EU summit late last year reached agreements, with the two sides promising to step up efforts to promote trade and investment and increase effective market access.

"China hopes Germany as a major power of Europe will continue to make great efforts to advance China-Europe relations," he said.

Farsighted people should be glad to see China's development, Yang said when commenting on whether Europeans felt "comfortable" with it.

Every country, including China and Germany, should be "confident" with its own development, he said.

"China is confident with its development, but in international relations it treats all countries equally, large or small, developed or developing, and rejects bullying of the weak and small," Yang said.
